With the  Retrolux webpage I share my passion about analog photography. From time to time I post a photo here with some additional information about its creation. When a new roll film is developed and scanned they will be added in the portfolio section.

I hope you enjoy your stay and keep connected trough Facebook or the Rss Feed.

Background:

My first contact with photography started with a 2 Megapixel digital compact camera (Casio EX-3000). During a school trip I used that camera for a photography project to portrait unusual spots in Florence Italy. That was a trigger for me to realize that being creative in that kind of way was something I really enjoyed. Later on we had a project to take three images with certain restrictions that should be realized with an analog film camera. That was the first time when I got my hands on my dream camera the Contax 645, even though it was just borrowed. Since then I searched for a good offer to obtain that medium format film camera. In the end of 2006 I finally was able to purchase an almost perfect complete set. From that timepoint on I started to roam around with a friend of mine to places that are full of little details to discover.

Philosophy:

Take your time and use your imagination for each photo you arrange. Even when it takes 30 minutes to realize that the scene is not interesting enough. In most cases one photo per spot is sufficent to catch the atmosphere. I am shooting virtually exclusively with an analog medium format camera. A 6×45 120 medium format roll-film can only hold a maximum of 16 images, so use them wisely. Every roll-film scan is handled with a lot of sense and care for colours and sharpness.

Restrict yourself to the absolute minimum to unleash maximum creativity.
