The real winter has arrived in hamburg and its getting really cold again. How far will it go this time? Currently I hardly have time take some new photos. Finished scanning the three rolls from the one week Öztal hiking trip in the beginning of September. Managed to get blisters on both heels at the first day… How stupid of me to forget to break in my shoes properly. The Öztal area in Austria is a high alpine terrain with amazing glaciers and mountains. The image I have selected shows the Rotmoostal at a rainy and foggy day where the clouds just pass over you. Finally my first photo exhibition is out for public. Earlier than expected and way later than planned. Currently four large prints are hanging in the cozy vegetarian restaurant "Azeitona" which means olive tree in arabic. People say that there you can eat the best Falafel in town. Fariz, the owner of the restaurant is the uncle of my girlfriend. Regardless of that I can confirm that the food is really good. I might add more photos during the exhibition. I remember that day very well when this photo was taken. My friend mirko and myself  arrived in westerhever after a ~ 2 hours drive from hamburg. Our plan was to capture the beautiful landscape of the salt meadows and anything else it has to offer. This roll was taken during a berlin weekend trip. The selected image you see here was taken at night in the archway of a closed museum. The green tint was caused by the tungsten lights. This effect was pushed with a +30 seconds exposure without a reciprocity failure correction on a velvia 50 film. I hope you like that photo and check out the others by clicking on the link below. After a long break the next roll film is finally finished, developed and ready to check it out in the gallery. Images were taken with the old ikonta camera from the 50ties that makes 6x9 slides (8 images per roll film). Currently I am planning my first photography exhibition of selected works. I've spent long nights reviewing and re-scanning old material. The image shown here is from roll film 5 and was originally taken in color. I was inspired by the book "The Negative" from Ansel Adams that helped me to visualize how color filters affect the final black and white image. This one is a recently developed image from the last roll. This is the best example when you get a present from mother nature. In such a light condition almost anything you shoot will turn out to be good. But you need to be very quick to find a subject and a perspective where to take it from, because the light changes extremly fast. This image shows the biggest living room in the "Mercado Negro". There you can use the free internet access and drink your coffee that can be bought from the cafe on the other side of the hallway. On this shot I have overexposed the image to get all the interior detail. This also helps to remove the distracting area outside the building. This image was taken in the "mercado negro" in Aveiro (Portugal). I needed to crop the shot to increase the depth and remove unwanted shop signs. This picture is another one in the harbour area and it was very cold that day. déjà vu! If I remember right this image was taken at 1 o'clock in the night during in Autumn. Standing on a higher road that passes over the railtracks it was able to take the scenery a little more higher up. I used the longest lens I had (80mm) to be closer to the trains. This shot was taken in westerhever (nordsee) near the famous lighthouse used for the jever beer comercials. I was standing far into the tideland. Luckily the mud was not very squishy and it was possible to walk on it without gumboots. On this day I've tested the circular polariser filter with most of the shoots. Its very fiddly to use it especially when lenses are changed often. This is a self portrait using the 10 seconds timer on the camera. On this night I did not want to take the tripod with me. This is one of my favorite portraits. This picture was taken in an old contaminated grain silo in the harbor area. On this picture we were at the highest floor of this building (~10 floor ). The outer walls had been completely removed. The only solid element apart from the girder was the staircase where Mirko was standing. This was taken in a hostel for health recovery. It was totally dark in that particular corridor, just in the end of it was a smal window. I decided to overexpose the image so it would look endless after you reach the light. This shoot was exposed ~8 minutes. The difficult part was the tripod. It was a very crappy one that did not even extend to the desired height.
