This is one of my favorite portraits. This picture was taken in an old contaminated grain silo in the harbor area. On this picture we were at the highest floor of this building (~10 floor ). The outer walls had been completely removed. The only solid element apart from the girder was the staircase where Mirko was standing. The atmosphere was very inspiring and I thought a portrait would be something different in comparison to the other pictures I had taken with that roll. It was a two seconds exposure on a tripod with open aperture.

Wow, so many cool things happening in this image! 2 strong rectangular openings in opposing perspective. One looking inside the other looking outside. One with a human the other with a machine. Both human and machine partially obstructed by the edge of the opening. The cool color of the door vs. the warm night sky. Luscious bokeh of the outdoor lights. Fantastic image!
Thank you Dan for your kind words. I really enjoy reading your detailed analysis on that image. You even found more things that I even haven’t realized. Do you have a own photo blog or online gallery of your work?(you did not provide a link)
Hope to see you around and get some constructive feedback from you.
I use to have a photo blog but it’s down right now. I’m hoping to start it again but work keeps getting in the way. Hopefully I can get back into it.
